Salvation in Jesus Christ
The full meaning of the word “salvation” can be described by several definitions, namely, “to save from,” “to set free,” and “to preserve.” The Bible says that the Lord has saved and delivered us from the penalty of sin. And salvation is not only a deliverance from sins. This word has more meanings. When we are saved, we become overcomers through Jesus Christ.
What is true salvation in Jesus Christ?
Following Jesus Christ, keeping His commandments, and believing in Him is a simple truth. True salvation is deliverance through faith in Jesus Christ. And the result of this faith we can see in our life.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.” (Hebrews 11: 6).
How to Achieve Salvation
We must remember that our salvation is only possible through our faith. It has already come to every person through the victory and mercy of Jesus Christ. When He died on the cross, He took away the sins and gave salvation and grace to the world. A person obtains salvation through repentance and acceptance of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Faith in Him is the only way to save your soul.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” (Acts 3:19).
It is enough for us to know a few “steps” that will help us understand what salvation through Jesus Christ is.
1. Acceptance of the fact of “being lost,” i.e. recognition of our sinfulness.
2. Asking God to forgive our sins.
3. Accepting forgiveness and God’s help through faith in Jesus Christ.
“For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give у victory.” (Deuteronomy 20: 4).
“He saved us not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” (Titus 3:5).
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2: 8-9).
What the Bible says about salvation
Our salvation through Jesus Christ is incredibly powerful. According to the Scriptures, “salvation” is deliverance from anger, the divine judgment on sin.
“Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him.” (Romans 5:9).
“For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath, but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5: 9).
The gift of salvation is offered to everyone – every person can repent and accept Jesus Christ as Savior. It is deliverance by God's grace from the eternal punishment for sin and it is given to those who have accepted by faith God's conditions for repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus (John 14: 6; Acts 4:12).
